Creating a podcast

Podcasting is a method of syndicating audio and/or video content out to users. People can subscribe to a podcast, and every time a new item is added to it they recieve a notification. In Frog, podcasts are based on the contents of specific folders. This guide will show you how to set up a podcast from scratch.

Step 1 - Create the podcast folder

The podcast will work by notifying subscribers of any new items that are created in a specific folder. The folder can be created anywhere on your Frog platform, but it is worth bearing in mind that the name of the folder will become the title of the podcast, so it's a good idea to make it as descriptive as possible. For example, instead of calling the folder 'New Music', 'Anytown School Music Club' is much more useful.

To create your podcast folder, navigate to the area you want to create it, click on the New button in the toolbar and choose Folder.

In the dialog box that pops up, give the folder a sensible name that describes the podcast. You can type in a long name, and include spaces and basic punctuation

Click on OK to create the folder

Step 2 - Mark folder for podcast

Make sure it is selected (don't open it!), then choose Properties from the Edit menu on the toolbar.

In the dialogue box that pops up, click on the podcast tab

In the podcast tab, make sure that the 'Make Podcast' checkbox is ticked as follows

When you tick the checkbox, the URL for the feed is displayed. You cannot edit this, but you need to copy it and make it available somewhere on your web site so that people can subscribe to the podcast.
